JOB DESCRIPTION
The Engineering Development Program (EDP) is a flexible
twelve month program that addresses the onboarding needs of engineers and
technologists hired directly into their full time positions.
JOB PURPOSE: Person can join as associate degree entry
level, engineering degree holder position, job rules are planned to provide excellent experience
and familiarization with the technical staff, different methods and practices of
the company and assigned area.
JOB DUTIES:
The key role of this entry level engineering position is to learn
and assist: to gain an understanding of Caterpillars business, products,
systems and procedures; to learn and develop skills which result from the
practical application of basic engineering knowledge; and to aid a project team
or others in the work group.
Projects can typically be of short period and
work results can have an effect on those functioning on identicalproject
or assignment.
Typically, decisions will impact routine, low risk issues
that may affect the project team, suppliers or internal customers. Challenges
include applying theory, learning procedures and understanding the technology.
Key areas of responsibility encountered in this role may
include any or all of the following: perform needs analysis and initiate ideas;
evaluate new products, processes or systems; communicate results
Uses without delay on the market clear and
direct references and provides simple solutions to issues.
Collects and evaluates data and develops plans for
assignments. Associate Engineers may expect to have direct contact with other
team members, customers and suppliers.
Engineers must manage their own development, continuously learning through experience and staying abreast of technology changes. Learning will focus on methods, processes and systems applied to engineering functions, key engineering skills, practical application of theory, communications and building a knowledge of Caterpillars products, suppliers and customers.
Professionals within the program must be willing to travel and relocate domestically.

Required Qualifications:
- Currently attending a 4-year accredited university/college or have completed a minimum Bachelors degree in Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Engineering Systems, Robotics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Engineering Physics
- Graduation date of December 2018 August 2020
- Minimum cumulative Grade Point Average of 3.0/4.0 (no rounding) at current institution
- Participation in Caterpillar student program
- Previous technical internship, co-op, or research/relevant experience
- Desired Qualifications:
