SURFACE MINING INTRODUCTION
At its lowest level, mining is simply digging into the
ground to find something useful. It has been part of life since antiquity and
remains the backbone of world trade and production. Well, if it's not broken
There are two basic classes of mining: mining on the surface
of the Earth and underground mining. This article will focus on the first. Surface
mining accounts for two-thirds of the world's solid minerals, and is used
mainly to obtain sand, gravel, crushed stone, phosphates, coal, copper, iron
and aluminum,

There are 5 main types of surface mining, which are used in
varying degrees and for different resources. These categories of mining are:
open pit mining, open pit mining, removal of mountain tops, dredging and high
wall mining. All surface extraction methods will eliminate waste material, or
overload, above the desired resource.
However, surface mining can be more damaging to the
environment than underground mining. This article will provide a brief
description of the different types of surface mining techniques, what they can
be used for and how important they are in the global mining community.
Opencast mining
Open pit mining, or open pit mining, is the most common type
of surface mining. Open-pit mines are holes in the ground on a giant scale,
which increase in size when destroying and drilling rocks. The mine develops
into a conical shape with banks (or steps) in cross section that spiral around
from the top to the bottom of the mine so that the trucks can drive along the
sides and collect debris.
Open pit mining is generally used for near-surface deposits,
such as gravel and sand. The term Quarry is often used to refer to an open pit
mine where the product is rock, commonly construction stone. Examples include
gravel, sand and dimension stone. Opencast is relatively safe, cheap and
results in high product yield
